Improving productivity and quality through Lean approach
Context
Our client is a global supplier to the aerospace industry, manufacturing strategic parts for aircraft engines. The group works with the most renowned aircraft and engine manufacturers.
It is heavily involved in innovation and high added-value engineering.
The challenge
Our client set itself an ambitious objective : to increase productivity and reduce non-quality costs throughout its production workshops.
The project took place during a complicated period for the teams on the ground.
The solution
A team of Spirit Advisors experts (analysts, engineers and senior consultants) deployed the Lean methodology, combined with a personalised support program :
- Transformation of support processes (quality)
- Setting up a participative performance measurement system
- Training and coaching managers : developing supervisors’ skills and clarifying their roles in the organisation
Given the context, we have adapted the pace and agendas on a case-by-case basis, while targeting the key production points first, and in particular the operational bottlenecks.
The impact
The introduction of dashboards has been an essential element in supporting supervisors in their quest for rapid, tangible results.
Deploying a Lean approach in bottom-up mode is demanding for Spirit Advisors experts, but it guarantees the involvement of the field and therefore the sustainability of operational performance.
